What are attitude words? Some adverbs and phrases show how you feel about what you say: happy, sad, surprised, honest or very sure. They usually come at the start of a sentence, followed by a comma. Use the adverb form (-ly), not the adjective.
โŒ Unfortunate, the flight was cancelled.โœ… Unfortunately, the flight was cancelled.
๐Ÿ˜Š Good news
    ๐Ÿ˜” Bad news
      ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Surprise and interest
        ๐Ÿ’ฌ Opinion and certainty
          ๐ŸŽ“ Useful in IELTS
๐Ÿ’ก IELTS tip: Use 1 to 2 attitude words in an answer, not in every sentence. In formal Writing, choose admittedly, clearly or interestingly and avoid honestly and frankly. Check the meaning: fortunately = good news, unfortunately = bad news. Apparently means “I heard” or “it seems”, not “I am sure”.
