What is a distractor? A distractor is a wrong option that looks correct. Distractors often copy words from the text, are only partly true, or are too extreme. To avoid them, compare the full meaning of each option with the text.
β Choose the option with the same keywordβ
Choose the option with the same full meaning
πͺ Same words, different idea
π Partly true or wrong detail
π¨ Too extreme
β
True, but not the answer
π Reversed, not mentioned and opinion traps
π‘ IELTS tip: Underline the exact words that make an option wrong (for example all, only, increased). Cross that option out, then compare the options that remain. The same traps appear in True / False / Not Given, so check numbers, extreme words and who holds the opinion.
