What is a prefix? A prefix is a small part added to the start of a word. It changes the meaning, but the spelling of the base word stays the same. Learn the meaning of each prefix and you can understand many new words.

πŸ’‘ IELTS tip: Prefix words make your writing shorter and stronger: say misunderstand instead of “understand wrongly” and underpaid instead of “paid too little”. Remember the opposite pair: overestimate (guess too high) and underestimate (guess too low). Not every word takes every prefix, so learn real words (there is no “reeat”).
